I've formated & reinstalled windows xp sp2 & proceeded with putting all the programs etc back on. I used to run AVG v6 or 7 but saw that AVG v8 (free) was available so installed that. Now I get a blue screen with white writing say something about windows being shut down to protect pc, "driver_unloaded_without_cancelling_pending_operatins" and: Any ideas what is wrong? even if I restart pc it will load windows & once on desktop, icons wont work & then a min later- blue screen again. So far I've wiped it again & reinstalled again & same thing happened for 2nd time, I managed this time though to run it in safe mode & do a system restore back to before I'd put on other programs like bitcomet, my scanner, my printer (NOTE: my scanner is very old & doesnt have the 'windows certificate' thing but I chose to install anyway, I had thought maybe this newer AVG was thinking its a threat & crashing windows, but after system restore I loaded scanner on & drivers etc & restarted fine) Do you think it could be a bug or something in AVG8? I;ve since found out it was only released 3 days ago. Any help VERY appreciated!
Dear BECKW79 I have the same issue exactly, did you find a resolution to the problem? if so any help would also be welcome. Kindest regards Saber
Hi ppl, I was currently running WinXP Professional SP2 but faced the same problem when I installed a security patch for KB884020! Thankfully for me, the update automatically makes a System Restore Point before replacing files. I was able to reboot into Safe Mode and go to System Restore to revert back to life as it was before this update If you have some restore point before your updates, you can access it from Safe Mode since the problematic AVG driver is apparently not loaded at-all in Safe Mode!!!
