    hi creaky,

    You said the following quotes:

Answer: I put Verbatim empty disc in my drive for recording. And mind you that I am trying to capture video directly from handycam to disc. And for this I have to have put disc in dvd writer such that it may record as in real time direct to my dvd disc . Kindly, let me know where am I wrong.

hi ghazab, Sorry, i go into auto-pilot when i answer logfiles, i'm not always as clear as i might be...

ps i can't help you with the handycam side of things, that's not something i'm into/have any experience with..

yup, i can see you have a "TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552U" burner, i didn't mention it further as i see it's firmware is up to date (version US06). Firmware is what teaches your burner about media/newer media/burn speeds so it's vital that this is kept up to date. For instance here's one site that has firmware updates for your burner - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2011 and if your firmware was out of date i'd have recommended a site such as this to download the firmware file and apply it to your burner. As i say, you're up to date so firmware is something not to worry about for now.

As regards the Nero updates and this particular burner, your burner will be fine with these updates, one of the reasons i know this is due to your particular model burner being mentioned here quite often in other people's logfiles.

re the 'disc problems' paragraph, there are various references to 'finalizing' the disc in the log. Discs need to be 'finalised' or 'closed' at end of burn process if no further data needs to be written to the disc; this is because not all standalone players can use/recognise discs that aren't finalised. As i say, i can't help you with the handycam side of things so i don't know if that's got anything to do with all these finalising errors or not.

re editing out your serial numbers - using the pencil icon at the right hand side of your post(s), edit whichever of your replies has anything beginning with '1A20', otherwise even a simple google search can arrive at posts like this and people can & will steal youyr serial numbers..

just noticed your statement "I have to have put disc in dvd writer such that it may record as in real time direct to my dvd disc" - that could well be a big part of the problem. it's always better to do burning to the hard drive first, and from there burn a disc. it's less intensive on the dvd disc/less error prone that way

    hi creaky,

As you said I had edited my post and eliminated the IA20 series. Creaky out of curiousty I ask you what the damage can people do if they come to know the serial number ?.

Secondly, I had been successfully able to make the DVD but taking the movie first on HADRD DISK and then burned the disc. That is OK. But the problem with that method is takes to much time rather about 4 hours. That is why i wanted to capture movie directly on my dvd disc and thus wanted to save the time. My last post which consisted of log file was outcome of my direct capturing from handycam to DVD.

Creaky i m confused . Do i really need to update the ExpressUI as it is old version ?. Tell me the precision where the problem is vesting.

    thank you dear

someone could steal your serial number and i guess you could go to update it one day and it's possible your serial number might be blocked due to the theft, thus stopping you using what you're entitled to by paying for the product.

The DMA settings being off would have been the culprit re Nero taking 4 hours. the DMA fix i pasted will sort that out so you can take the movie to hard disc and burn from there.

As to to updates, if you don't update your software who's to say some of the problems you're having aren't addressed in new updates as they come along. You don't always need to be checking if your software is up to date but in your case the software is now real old, so all manner of things will have been fixed in the numerous updates since your software was released
