drop frames in adobe premiere

    hai,
    i'm new with editing & have one or two question.
    i'm using sharp dv with firewire card,P3 550,192RAM & 40 gig HDD.
    my question : i import raw format from dv to HDD using adobe premiere & when vewing it gives "dropped frame".what is dropped frame?when viewing with dv,the pix is sometime great & sometime hang few second.is my dv have a problem or pc?

    any suggestion?

    Dropped frames usually happen when your hard drive can't write the data quick enough to disc.

    It's not a good thing to have happen.

    Is you're drive set at "DMA enabled" this often helps cure the problem.
