Using Nero v6.6.0.14 or DVD Decrypter, I can't burn a dual layer disc at all - it keeps dying at the layer switch. It's happening with both Fuji and Ridata DL blanks, but the burner can handle any single layer DVD media I throw at it (including Fuji and Ridata).

Here's the relevant log from Nero:

It fails in the same spot regardless of which blanks I use.

Any ideas? I really don't want to buy another pack of blanks, even a different brand, if they aren't going to work either...

Exactly. Before you go toss your drive out the window lol, try Verbatim DL discs first. You won't be sorry.

As said use verbatim media and I recommend using dvd decrypter
With the .mds file dvd decrypter does a better job of
burning and replicating the second layer in dl media.

    thread teleported to Nero forum

in addition to the other guys' replies -

    - firmware's up to date - http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/firmware.htm#810
however it's unable to recognise those discs, see next comment..

    - your firmware is lacking. this is similar to what you should see -
    - ie a 3line paragraph when the firmware's up to date/is able to recognise discs.

plus as per Jizmak, Nero isn't very good at dealing with the layer break in 6.x, dunno if Nero 7.x is any better...so try his suggestions
