Hi guys I have a DS lite, and have been thinking about picking up the M3 Adapter for it. I read somewhere that the M3 adapter [bold]does not[/bold] work out of the box with the DS lite -- Can anyone confirm this? I want to pick up an M3 Perfect SD adapter with a 133x 4Gigabyte SD card. Can anyone confirm that the M3 is compatible with a 4GB card? I know that only certain brands work, but I would like to make sure that it can support all 4GB of it -- if it can't, there's no use getting a card that large for me. Finally, I have a Max Media Launcher. I understand that there is no sleep mode support, and I don't really care about that at this point in time. Is this alright to use with the M3, or is the Passcard3 a better solution? From what I've read, they're basically the same except that Passcard3 supports sleep mode. If in the end it doesn't really make much sense to me, I'll probably pick up a G6 lite because of the fact that I get basically everything except the Passcard3 with it. As far as price is concerned, that will be a cheaper route to the M3 + SD card.. but the major advantage of going with the M3 is expandable memory. I'm not too sure which one to pick, which is why I need a little bit more info on the M3 before making my purchase. Thanks for your time
You do realise the largest G6 (4Gb) is only 512MB? Yes, unlike the Supercard, the M3 supports FAT32, and therefore 4GB cards. I would highly recommend the Passcard3 over the MML, however both are compatible with the M3, you are awae that becasue the MML dosn't support sleep mode you can't close your DS when it's turned on? The only reason to choose the G6 Lite over an M3 would be size, the G6 Lite fits perfectly in the DS Lite, whereas the M3 sticks out. The M3 adapter works perfectly with the DS Lite 'out of the box' you might of got it confused with when the Passkey2 was around, the Passkey2 needed to be programed before it could be used on a DS Lite. The Passcard 3 solved this, and does not need to be programmed to work.
Thanks for your response mr_hanky yes, I do realize that the G6 lite is only 512 MB. I will only be playing DS Roms on it, no music or videos or anything of that sort (already have an ipod video), which is why I went as far as considering it I also know about the MML sleep mode problem. I used it with the Max Media Player from Datel -- I could close the lid, but it would continue playing. Not a big problem for me as I hardly ever do that sort of thing And as far as the out-of-the-box thing goes, you're right - I did get confused with the Passkey2 reprogramming. Thanks for the clarification! I guess I'll have to find a sweet deal on an M3 SD adapter so that I can pick one up.. I know of the usual places so I'll check those out first. Thanks for your time man
If you close the lid when playing DS games using the MML the screens repeatedly turn off-on-off-on, same with the speakers. Pretty sure it wouldn't do much good to a DS. Things such as homebrew should carry on, like you said though. Just thought i'd let you know.
Oh.. wow.. didn't know about that. Thanks for the heads up.. guess I'll have to pick up a passcard3 anyway
Hey, I also own a M3 adapter and a Max Media Launcher, and I found out a way to fix the sleep mode problem when playing DS games. 1. Wait until your DS reaches the M3's main menu. 2. At the main menu, before selecting a DS game, take out the MML. 3. Put in any legit DS game into the slot, and select the DS game you want to play. 4. Game will play as normal, but now you can use sleep mode. Only problem with this is, unlike the Passcard3 you have to switch out the MML with a real cart everytime if you want sleep to work.
I havent noticed any problems with the battery life when using this trick, so my guess would be battery life would remain the same as if the MML was still inside.
