I was cleaning my DS Lite screen tonight and saw what looks like a speck of crud under the upper right edge of the upper screen. Does anyone else's have this issue? Maybe it's part of the way it's manufactured. If you tilt it in the light and look right above the "M" (next to the battery indicator) on the upper right edge of the boot-up screen, it looks like a small circle or some sort of junk inside the screen panel. It won't rub off. It seems like it's inside the screen itself, in the black border part of the screen. I also noticed the right "button" on the d-pad is not as springy as the other 3 directions. It's my first Nintendo, so maybe it's just not the quality I'm used to. Other than those issues, I'm pretty happy with it.
i've got a problem w/ my ndsl's touch screen. there is debris between the screen and the plastic that warps the screen a little bit. i get pixel offsets in that screen quadrant that range from subtle to greater closer to the corner. no huge problem but very annoying. did you buy this in the US or did you import. i imported mine and have several complaints as to build quality, maybe a recall is in order. besides this issue, i am especially annoyed and my ability to wiggle gba cards up and down in slot2 by a few mm and the slanted position that my nds carts take in slot1. will solve slot2 issue w/ purchase of g6 lite, very cool. have you taken action to repair your screen? have any software issues arisen (i.e. touch screen inaccuracy?) how big is this circle, it sounds like it might be a bubble, this link may be relevant: http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=9736&highlight=suction
I went to the store and looked at the one there and it doesn't have the "chip" (which is what I think it is my screen has. It's the upper screen, not the touchscreen. And it's just the border, not in the main viewing area. But I keep seeing it when the light reflects and it's annoying. I got it at Best Buy and have it all packed up to exchange this morning. Let's see how much hassle they give. After going through this, I'd never import something with an LCD. It's just too prone to having problems. I'd only buy where I could return/exchange it. My touchscreen is ok. Maybe I should just count my blessings they didn't mess that up and keep the chipped one! This is just a $130 game machine meant to be tossed around, not a $2000 laptop computer. I'm sure the quality standards are a little different. It's still a fun little toy despite the cosmetic issues.
oh, i'm sorry i misunderstood your original post, here is a message i got from lik-sang: Dear Timothy, Thank you for your reply. We have encountered a few NDS Lite consoles with a touch screen very slightly out of place in one corner before. Unfortunately, this is common in NDS Lite consoles and not recognized as a defect by Nintendo. Therefore, we are unable to offer a replacement under warranty. If calibration cannot resolve then problem then I am sorry but we cannot help you further with the problem. You could try contact Nintendo directly to see if they can assist you further. Best regards, Zal so, yah, maybe this will be of help to someone, hope your exchange works out well, i understand that importing can be a risk, but having things noone else has is soooo cool, i got to enjoy a whole month of "i didn't think that was out yet!!!"
Man, I'd never order from that place. That's for sure. The message doesn't even make sense. How could a touchscreen be out of place in one corner? That'd mean the whole thing was misaligned. And it's not what you said the problem was. Nintendo is supposed to offer a 1 year warrantee (I think). You might try contacting them directly and see if they'll do anything. Best Buy was willing to do my exchange but was completely sold out in the entire area within a 40 mile radius. They expect another shipment within 24 hours and said to just come back in a day or two and they can do it. That's the benefit of buying at a big retailer I guess. On the other hand, I had to wait for the regular release date.
yes, it sounds weird, but i've become accustomed to poorly translated english. i think that they were addressing my issue properly but the fractured english got in the way. lik-sang does have a good reputation as an importer and besides the fact that there is no real return policy they provide excellent service and a wide selection of rare and esoteric gaming products. i suppose that i've become numb to the problems associated with importing (...after the first blush...). i've heard of much worse happening.
