Hey guys, I have posted here twice in the past (for two different DSes) and I got an awesome answer both times. Anyway, I am having an issue with a DS I just bought on eBay. The upper screen has some weird discoloration going on, looks like it adds a red tint, but only to certain colors. Sometimes, red lines of discoloration show up. The colors seem to "flicker" between different shades. When I apply some pressure to the bottom half of the unit (Right hand twisting clockwise, left hand twisting counterclockwise) The colors go back to normal. When I apply pressure in the opposite direction, the game freezes and elements on the screen start jumping back and forth. I assumed the ribbon cable connected to the top screen had come loose, however I opened it up, and that was not the case. I am pretty sure something is loose somewhere, because of the change while twisting. Any Ideas?
Most likely the ribbon cable has developed internal fractures. Eventually, the top screen will need to be replaced, since the ribbon cable is part of thetop screen assembly. Also possible but less likely is that the top screen video driver on the logic board is failing. In that case, replacement of the logic board is required.
Oh man, I replaced the top screen on my first DS. I might open em both up and plug the seond into the first to see what happens. Won't be able to do that till I get back from college in like two weeks. I'll just live with it until then. The thing is poking the cable didn't do anything, but poking around on the motherboard did. So looks like I might have to buy a new logic board. Do you know what specific part of the board handles the video, I could give it a poke. Though the sound is distorted too... I shouldn't have removed the warranty sticker...
