I have a DS Lite that got wet, now it won't power on. When I plug in the charger the orange light flashes for about 1 second, then off. I've tried bypassing the F2 and F1 fuses with no luck. Is the thing bricked?

suggest you wait for it dry naturally, I met the case about 2 months ago, And after about 15 hours, I can power it on again. Dont know if you can toast it, such as cell phone, if you toast it, maybe it will affect the board of the ds lite. Hope it will be useful to you.

Something else to note is that the little guy tried turning it on not knowing it had gotten wet...

its not bricked but it probably sank like one, bricking is where you alter the official firmware and you end up with a non functional ds, needs to dry now natural heat and probably try it with a new battery and hope the motherboard didn't short, but the ds is hardy execpt in water.

I know what bricking is... my point is that it's useless to me, so it may as well be a brick. I've tried all the obvious things, like a new battery, and like I said in my original post I've tried bypassing the F1 and F2 fuses with no luck. The thing is dry, and has been for quite some time. It was turned on while wet, so I figure it's done for, just wanted a 2nd opinion.

ive seen a few posts on here about wet ds lites and not seen one who managed to get it running after, you could sell it on ebay spares or repair the placstic housing and some other stuff may be useful as the case alone can go for £15 and (yours is cleaner sorry)look up nintendo ds lite housing/shell on ebay, i sold a bottom white part of the ds £11.99, just thought it might be useful trying to recoup as much money out of it as you can.

Just for future reference to anyone who may read this; if you have portable devices that get wet (DS, cell phones, etc...), the best option is to place them in a bowl of dry rice as soon as possible. The rice will absorb the water. You should also remove the battery from the device and do not try turning it on or plugging it in until it's had time to dry. There is no set time for how long it needs to dry as it depends on the amount of water that the device has soaked up, but I'd recommend waiting at least one day before trying to power on the device (the longer the better).

In this particular case, I think your DS is damaged beyond repair. You could try replacing parts individually, but that's pretty much a game of hit-and-miss.

    Hey ih4553,

It sounds like it might be bricked, water and electronics tend not to mix. I just did the same a little while ago. Did you have anything savagable? Have you tried other stuff like games, rumble packs, mod chips out on other DS's to see if they still work?
