Hey folks, just wondering if someone can help here. I used to have a DS a couple years ago, but sold it. I had the R4 Card or something like that and had a ton of games etc.

So my 4 year old has been bugging me for this everyday. Im wondering if given the choice would I be better off looking at picking up a DSI-XL vs the plain DSI?

Also, does the XL use the same cards slot thingys/mods for playing backups ?

Anything else I need to know? ie. Any limitations of the XL vs the DSI?

Thanks very much in advance everyone. Appreciate it.

The DSi and DSiXL cannot play GBA games, but they can download and play DSiWare games. They're sort of like WiiWare games if you're familiar with those.

You'll need to get a new flashcart to play backups, as none of the old flashcarts are compatible with the newer 'i' consoles.

Look up either the Acekard 2i or the Supercard DSTwo. The acekard is cheaper, but the supercard has hardware built in that lets you play (most, the compatibility isn't perfect) GBA and SNES roms.
