hi i have ordered my son a dsi xl for xmas... i am planning on putting backup games on it.. (not sure how to do that yet, but will read up)... i have read somewhere that the console will take upto 2gb sd card.... and 32gb sdhc cards.. i think this is before any custom firmware... does the size of the card gb change once they have the custom firmware on the dsi xl...

could anyone direct me to the thread i need for modding the dsi xl.. and what is the best size card to use for backup games...

    thankyou

You seem to be a bit confused. There are no custom firmwares for any DS versions.

Here's the guide on how to play backup games:

    1) Buy a flashcart (Acekard 2i or SuperCardDSTWO are the best choices)

    2) Put your games and flashcart firmware on a microSD card

    3) Put microSD into flashcart and flashcart into DS

    4) You're done. The console is not modded in any way.

The DSiXL's built-in SD slot only supports up to 2gb SD cards, but that doesn't matter because it's not used at all in this process. The flashcart will support microSD's up to 32 gigs.

Yes, I would go with the supercard. It costs a little more than the acekard but it updates the most frequently and is the only one that will let you play GBA games on a DSi.

And as I stated, the games go on the microSD which goes into the supercard. You don't need a huge microSD though. DS games are anywhere from 8 to 256mb, with most games being 32-64mb. Most people I know use 4gig microSD's. I have an 8gig one but haven't filled it.

Defiantly spring for the high-speed SD though. You want class 6 or higher. The class 4 and 2 cards have problems with some games that require loading cutscenes or higher quality music quickly.
