i recently bought a dsi, and under settings there is a way to turn the wireless communication on and off.

the ds lite automatically did this when it needed to wirelessly communicate with something. but on the dsi if it's off and i try to say do pictochat or go the store it asks me to turn it back on.

my question is, if i turn the wireless communication option to 'on', the orange light comes on. and when connecting, the light blinks. Is the dsi actually doing anything when the light's not blinking? i want to know cuz i turned it off originally to save battery. but now im not sure if just turning the setting on actually triggers it to use its wireless capabilities or is it only doing so when the light blinks.

i found this on the official support site but im still a little bit unsure.

    anyone have any ideas?

i wouldn't be suprised if it sent "game data" to Nintendo, reporting flash kart usage..
