I have just got FastAccess Business DSL with AT&T and i have followed all their directions in connecting everything, but on my local area connection in network connections it says that the cable is unpluged. And in the properties of the Local area connection it says that it is using "intel(r) pro 100/ ve network connection." Why is it saying my network cable is disconnected, and i know it is not. I have gotten the people from At&t to come look at it and they said that everything was connected correctly. Help please?

moved to correct forum. how are you connected, usb or ethernet cable. if using an ethernet cable then try another one as yours might be defective. also make certain that cable is a straight thru version & not a crossover cable. did at&t come to your place or did it online?

that is a modem unless has connections to connect more pc's\game consoles then it is a modem router. is possible your net card is defective as ran into somewhat similar with a customer's 2 pc's. both said not connected even with a known good cable. found out that both were fried by a power surge thru the router when their cat chewed on the router's power cable. i disabled the onboard netcards & replaced with 2 pci cards that now allowed the pc's to connect & browse the net. does the modem have an usb connection as most of them have both usb & ethernet connections?

the modem router does not have a usb connection. This is the 1st time any ethernet cable has been connected to it. The only internet connection it has ever use before this is dial-up.

go into device manager, uninstall the intel netcard & restart windows so can find new hardware(intel netcard) & load it's driver for it. is there any exclamation marks in device manager?
