Hi, just got my home theatre player back from the repair shop, but now when I go to load a DTS disc, nothing. Picture but no sound. Looks like they have knackered the DTS decoder somehow. So was wondering, does the DTS decoder come as part of the board or is it included in the firmware. Basically I want to go back to the shop and sound as if I know what i'm talking about. Any info on this would be great. The system itself is a JVC TH-R1, if that's any help.
DTS is a chip usually soldered on the board. Also there maybe nothing wrong with DTS, unlike Dolby Digital, DTS is scarce on films.
Thanks DXR88 for the info. So hopefully it should be handy enough to fix so by the sounds of that. It's definitley broken alright, have a couple of DVD concerts that are DTS only and will now not play, unlike the Dolby Digital ones. Will be dropping it back in next week so hopefully will get it resolved quickly.
make sure you have it set to autodetect, you might look kind of silly if they just push a button and it works
