A noobe
You have it a little backwards. You need to use the C drive as your normal useage and the D as the backup.
The reason i have 2 drive's is so i can use the one i whan't. But i whan't to boot to them sepret.to put files on 1 but not the outher.any help on this would help.
I think your problem stems from cloning D and using a different boot program. If you would have installed XP to D thru setup, your boot loader would give you the option to boot to either drive, and you wouldn't be running into any copying issues..though I have never heard of that before.
Morph you got it right. All he has to do is install win xp on 2 differnet partitions. This way he dose not have to have any 3rd party software for the partition. Just make sure that that both partitions are primary and there should be no problem. Since they are both NTFS or FAT32 both os's will be able to see the files of the other os.
Can you tell me how to fix this problem with out reinstlling windows,i am afrade if reformat d; IT WILL ALSO DELETE C:
You are going to have to delete the D partition. You can do this by right clicking on My Computer then click on manage. Then you would go to your local storage. Then you would be able to delete the D partition. That would get rid of the data on there. Then you can remake this partition and make sure it is a primary partition with what ever drive letter that you want. Then you can install windows on that new partition. At this current time I am doing the same thing with my own comp only it is win xp home and Vista ultimate. 2 hard drives and all. Let me know how it turns out for you. Best of luck
