I recently bought a new hard drive to install windxp on so I can use ulead video studio 11. I already had windows vista installed on the other but there are compatibility problems. After I booted into windows xp, I went to the bios, changed vista to first but could not boot back up into windows vista. I got an error message saying "windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem". what should i do?

in order for it to work proporly you have to install xp first then install vista on the other harddrive the vista bootmgr will detect xp and say older version of windows and windows vista i guess if you install xp second it causes errors

so i would suggest backup your valuble data wipe the drive with vista and reinstall it if you cant boot into xp then you have to wipe that too

    hope that helps

any time your dual booting two different windows OSs you always install the older version first before the newer version

I just thought of something, if I can't boot into Vista how do I perform a clean install?
