I recently installed ubuntu and have been dual booting it with win 7 pro without problems until today. When I boot into windows now, windows claims that my Ethernet cable is unplugged or damaged. Ubuntu can access the internet just fine. I replaced the cable, re-installed the realtek lan drivers, and am at a loss. I've re-booted my modem, and my router, and even have done a system restore also with no luck. The little green light by my ethernet port on my computer is lit, but windows doesn't see a cable plugged in for some reason. I have two ports, and both are enabled in windows, same problem with both. In device manager, windows reports that the network adapter is working fine, but still claims the cable isn't plugged in. I'm running windows 7 pro 64 bit, and ubuntu 10.04 32 bit. My motherboard is an abit IP35 pro with a realtek gigabit lan. Thanks for any advice.
so as this is clearly NOT a linux or hardware problem why are you asking in the wrong place? honestly.. like anybody in foss world gives a darn that your proprietary junk is either infected or broken somehow.
Well it only happened once I installed linux, so I thought there might be a connection. Whats with the attitude anyway? Its people like you that give these forums a bad name. Next time keep your posts to yourself, your not needed here.
And here we go again - ps355528 language - you know the drill by now I would think along with keeping the attitude off the forums. if you have a problem with a post report it and keep the attitude off the forums.
