I had vista working fine, But when i installed xp, It's the only thing that loads. No boot that lets me select for vista / xp. I have edited the boot.ini and the only one that work's is the xp. whenever i hit enter on vista, I get the error : Error accessing boot selector file. All help apprechiated
Some notes I've made previously on this subject. You can use the free easyBCD to see if it can get it to boot. vista preinstalled than xp added later http://www.pronetworks.org/index.ph...a_dual_boot_with_pre_installed_windows_vista/
moved to correct forum as not a pc hardware issue. Hitmanfoo, edit your sig to conform to forum specs ASAP. yours is taller then 200 pixels. 2. An image-only signature should be less than 50kb in size, and be at most 500 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall.
First of all, when you dual boot you MUST install the older OS first, In your case (XP THEN Vista) Its like this with all windows OS, always install the older before the newer...other than that, if you know how to edit your boot.ini file you can tell it to accept both, but just reformatting and installing them in order is simpler..
Their is a problem with in your windows vista operating system, some supoorting files has been deleted so you can repair windows vista oprating system and then check it. If windows vista does not work perfectly then you can reinstall windows vista operating system.
they are 200 tall as each 1 is 100 pixels high but you have a gap between the 2 that now makes it over 200 pixels high so edit your sig ASAP.
FYI if you install XP after vista in a dual boot situation you may be able to make it work correctly. You will have to do a repair install of vista. Normally that will get the proper boot loader.
Follow the Instructions on this link It will guide you through the process of dual-booting your system.
