I'm trying to build a new pc and was wondering if the AMD 64FX-53 is better than then a AMD X2 4400 and if the dual-cores put out more heat than a single-core.

To answer simply; maybe, and no. But, that depends on the application, benchmark....etc.

    Go with the dual core.
