Hey all...I have a LG LG 16x GSA-4167B DVD+/-RW Dual Layer DVD ReWritable Drive (BLACK) http://www.outletpc.com/c1128.html (FYI) ANyways I have burned DL disks before wheather movies or backing up. Recently I did a format nothing out of the ordinary..now I cannot burn a DL disk..Nero tells me not enough room...and so does CLone DVD..please help! PS..I did get the newest firmware JC
Just did this one, hope you won't mind if I copy paste. If burning to DL media, I believe it's best to have shrink create an ISO image and autoburn to disk using DVDdecrypter. DVDdecrypter or ImgBurn are better at burning to DL disks than Nero (my opinion). When backing up in shrink choose to save target as "ISO image file and burn with DVD decrypter", decrypter will automatically launch when the files are ready to be burned to disk, you will be prompted for media, just insert the blank and go. How large is the actual file?
Well, its odd because I was burning DL disks fine before.both in Nero and CLone DVD..the file sizes range as I am doing a back-up..so about 7-8 GIG per CD.
I use Nero 6.3...and error log.. Sorry it took so long, but here goes: Here: ********************************************************************* Nero version: 6.3.0.3 ********************************************************************* Your version of nero is pretty old, I believe this version has no/little support for DL media. You need to update to version 6.6.0.18, get the update here: nero 6.6.0.18 updates http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe Here: ******************************************************************** Recorder: <HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4167B>Version: DL13 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.3.0.3 ******************************************************************** Your burners firmware is upto date, no problem there. Here: ********************************************************************* CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148C atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off ********************************************************************* This samsung drive is set to PIO mode, change it to DMA. Here's a guide: http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/ Here: ******************************************************************** Physical memory : 247MB (253464kB) Free physical memory: 50MB (51992kB) Memory in use : 79 % ********************************************************************* Your computer's physical memory is low, you should have at least 512MB. 79% of it is in use, try not to multitask while burning and shutdown any unnecessary processes running while burning. Here: ******************************************************************** Recorder: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4167B, Media type: DVD+R9 Dual Layer Disc Manufacturer ID: RITEK, Media Type ID: D01, Product revision number: 1 Disc Application Code: 0, Extended Information Indicators: 0 ********************************************************************* The media your using is considered poor quality(RITEK), try using a brand considered to be of good quality(look for made in japan). Here: ********************************************************************* 8:44:37 PM #5 Phase 41 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1800 Compilation will not fit onto a blank disc ******************************************************************** Well I know your using DL media, so the files(s) should fit. The burner may not be recognizing the media correctly, so, either the nero update to version 6.6.0.18 (as shown in note below) or trying another brand of media should correct this. ********************************************************************* NOTE: Fixes added to version 6.3.1.2.0 include: Improvement for DVD+VR support on DVD+R9 media was made to determine if a layer breakpoint is set ********************************************************************* And last, try burning at slightly less than the rated media speed if possible. Personally, I would use ImgBurn to burn to disk rather than nero.
JakubC, You need to use Verbatim D/L (+)DVD . johnl123 Mentioned the Ritek is not the better grade for D/L media. You will find most people that do D/L movies use that and then burn at about 2.4-4X. I would not use Shrink to do a D/L as I think it plays w/ the layerbreak. When I do a D/L disk I use DVDDecrypter and AnyDVD. I make sure that in DVDDecrypter go to Tools > General> uncheck the check mark at Check for Sturctural Protection. Then go to I/O and make sure the check mark is next to ElbyCDIO/Elaborate Bytes. Then I bring up DVDD in Iso>read> decrypt and after reading Iso>write> decrypt button and it is done. I always make sure DVDD is using the original layer break ( it will tell you on the right hand side if it is) and the same is true for Imgburn. I have done about 60 d/l movies and have not had one failure nor have I had a layerbreak problem as you might w/ Shrink or Nero. Those 2 programs and some of the others change the layerbreak
Thank you all for the help! I will let you know how I make out. Car.MIke the funny thing is that I was already burning DL movies proior to my format with Clone DVD...worked great.
