Hello all, I own a Dell Dimension 8300 computer purchased in September 2003. I am in the market to purchase a Dual Layer DVD burner. Can anyone recommend a brand that will easily install in my 8300? Does anyone own a dual layer burner that is installed in their Dimension 8300 and if so which brand and model? What should I avoid? Thanks in advance
I got a plextor 708A in my Dell 8200. It works flawlessly, but it isn't dual layer. Plextor makes some of the best dvd burners. Go with the plextor 716.
Here's a great deal Plextor 716 for $129.00 w/ $30 mail in rebate. The new Plextor dual layer 716 for $99!!! Shipping is $5. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-131-338&catalog=23&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=0
@nyns I have a sony DL burner in my Dell, see my sig for model. @ flip Is this deal any good? http://www.pcconnection.com/Product...F40AE2FC88E2585BC3083DEBB419FE9F1455B697409FC
Rebates suck I have been waiting 3+ months for my rebate from Plextor for a PX-712A.I always look for the best selling price instead of rebates.I do most of my buisness with Newegg, quick and DEPENDABLE! Plextor makes great drives.
jonjakjam, Well as first glance you save an extra $20. But the cheapest shipping is $9.98 for ground (usually 5-7 business days). Shipping through newegg is $5 and I ordered it Sunday 19th, and it should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. So is $15 worth waiting a few extra days? And I don't know if they charge tax .. and at least for me I don't get charged tax when shopping at newegg.
I did not see any software listed as coming with that plextor from newegg. Did anyone see if it did, or is that an extra cost? thanks
The link i posted was just a quick 2 minute search and i have no idea if that site is reliable, fast or dependable?? So I would have to say newegg is probably the best place to get this burner. =P Its friday 24th so you should have the 716 now flip. Am I right? =)
Yea, arrived Wednesday. I've been busy (last minute shopping). Hoping to find time this weekend to install it.
