Dual Layer Burning Problems with Nero Burning Rom 7

I have a LiteOn SHW-160P6S burner and am using Nero BR 7. I am burning MATRIX DVD+R DL's from Shop4Tech. Initially I kept getting write errors and made a few coasters. I then flashed the most recent firmware for the the burner and was able to succesfully burn 3 DL's in a row. The only problem is that these disks will play on my standalone DVD players, but are not even recognized by any of the DVD-ROM drives on my computers (including the burner). When I use the "disc information" feature on Nero BR, it reads "no disc". I am burning from IFO files on the computer. Could someone please help me correct this problem?

Have you tried DVD Decrypter in ISO read mode to rip and then burn the MDS file in ISO write mode for the burn?

Sounds like dodgy media to me...when it comes to media you get what you pay for, especially DL discs and it seems that Verbatims are the only ones in the game.

I attempted to burn the DL DVD with Decrypter in ISO mode as you suggested and the same thing occured, however the log indicated that the write process failed while finalizing the disc. Like a dummy I deleted the log before I could copy it. I am going to make another attempt and will copy the log and post it here. Can anyone give me the the exact settings for ISO burns in Decrypter. (Is ImageBurn a better program for burning ISO? Since it is more up to date, I wondered if it might have more up to date burner compatability.)

Imgburn would be a better choice than DVD Decrypter because it is still being updated. The default settings for both programs should get you what you need. Your real issue is your media I'm afraid...could be wrong, but if was to make a bet I'd put my money on the media.

Why would bad media allow me to burn all DVD files but not finalize? I am not familiar with what occurs in finalizing the disc. Does the burner have to read the data already written before it can finalize? The quality of the playback on my stand alone DVD players is quite good. Is there an easy way to return Decrypter and ImageBurn to their default settings?

I was trying to back up Star Trek Nemesis on my BRAND NEW LiteOn DVDRW DL Burner. I will buy a couple of Verbatim DL's and see if this problem persists. I thought Ricoh media was supposed to be pretty good.

RicohJPN is excellent media, but why your drive is not liking it is beyond me. You can always try another burning program and see if the problem persists. It could be a data error in the file read. You can try CloneDVD I have had good luck with this and it does have a free trial of 21 days. It does not break encryption so you would also have to try the trial of AnyDVD, a driver that runs in the background, and then use Clone to rip/burn. If you are having no problems on playback in your players with the disks, then the burns are coming out okay.
