Firstly a VERY big thank you to alkohol for the recent guide on how to Decryt and burn, even a 'blonde' newbie like me could follow this and successfully burn my first few DVD's. Problem I have and could not find a 'search' solution for was with burning to Dual Layer DVD's. I have a HP a1260 with Lightscribe burner that supposedly supports dual layer burning and use Decrypter and Nero 6 (reloaded), following the instructions I can successfully burn to a DVD5 but can not successfully burn to a dual layer DVD9. It seems to copy one layer, which can be successfully replayed and viewed but returns an error message that 2nd layer could not be burnt. Is there some simple setting (PC/Decrypter/or Nero) that I am overlooking or is there a guide that I have not been able to find as yet that will assist. Thanks to all the 'pros' like Alkohol who make life simpler for those like me. Teemore
With a DL disc, try doing it all with just Decrypter. I burn all my DL discs with just Decrypter, and they have all turned out fine.
teemore In DVDDecrypter go to Mode> iso> read- then click the Decrypt button. It will now write 2 files to the C: drive ( pay attention to where it goes) the 2 files will be an .iso file and a .mds file. After reading the DVD you need to write it. Go to Mode>iso> write. Now you find the 2 files that it did in the read mode and you will click on the ".MDS FILE" and not the .iso file. Click the decrypt button and DVDDecrypter will write it to a D/L DVD
Thanks, you make it sound too easy. Seems I trying to burn in 'iso' mode when I should have been switching to 'mds' mode for dual layar burning. Can't try it out till tonight (Aussie time) but can now approach it with renewed confidence. Teemore
Just tried Car.Mike solution and it did'nt work for me, I followed the steps accurately and I'm not new to burning. But it was my DL disk and it stopped at 50% I'm not sure what else to try???
@dusk77 hi nothing wrong with the way Car.Mike burns his D/L that is exactly the way i do it, with no burn failures Decrypter handles the layer break better than nero it looks as if your problem is on the break a log would give us a better view of whats happening, and why
dusk77, The directions are correct and I agree that is might be the layer break( doubt it) but what is the brand of D/L media you are using?
Tried the decrypter solution, the instructions and options appeared almost too simple, it did appear to progress writing beyond the fisrt layer, previous attempts failed after completing the 1st layer, but it ultimately failed. Will try again and save the error log, post it tonight (Aussie time). Range of Dual Layer DVD options appears limited, have been using TDK DVD+/-R/DL 2.4 Thanks for the input todate.
teemore, The only reliable d/l blank media are the Verbatim's. That is the only brand I have ever used. All of the other d/l blank media have problems. Try Verbatim as I think that is what your problem is.
@ teemore hi download dvdidentifier from the link in my sig, this will give you the true ID of any disc you run through it. i have no dought of the quality of Verbatim, but never haveing used them myself, i can only reccommend what i use exclusively, and that is RitekD01, haven't had a failed or bad burn yet.
@gurnard, I tried another disk and same error, stops at 50%, I'm using Fuji DL disk, I will post a log if its saved this evening. Maybe I should try Verbatims? I've always like the Fuji DVD-R media and hence tried the same brand.
Ok so I dont have a log saved, but decryptor dropped 3 files on my hard drive, mds and .IO0 and IO1 I have never got that before.. Anyone know whats going on? I generally get and mds and an iso file thats it.
@ dusk77 hi still not enough info to give a difinitive answer, we are really only guessing. if your pc is useing the FAT32 system , it only caters for a max of 4 gig per file, but generally it defaults to 1 gig per file, which means you could have 4 or 5 iso files with 1,048,576 kb per file and titled 100..102..103 and so on, and 1 MDS file of 5-9kb, and then you select the MDS file and decrypter does the rest on the other hand if your pc is useing the NTFS system then you will only have 1 iso file of what ever size you have dropped to your HD + 1 MDS file of 5-9kb. what is the size of each file you have on HD?
Sorry for the late reply, I have NTFS and like I said before I also get one mds and one iso file but heres what I have: .MDS - 8.25KB .I00 - 3.99GB .I01 - 3.45GB I just can't figure out why decrypter would break the iso file? I have decrypted the movie twice over with same results
@ dusk77 hi sorry buddy , it's got me beat the only other thing i would try if it were me, would be to uninstall decrypter and then install it again, just incase it has got contaminated some how
I'm gonna try to re-install, coz the re-rip without the re-install had the same results. Thx for all the help.
