just tried my 1st Ritek DL media today, i am VERY impressed~ :) even though i have been exclusively using the Verbatim DLs, the Ritek with the RitekD01 coding is VERY good~

this is a VERY limited trial as i have ONLY done just 1, but, playback is almost identical to the Verbatim DL on my standalone player~ all my DLs are booktyped to dvd-rom as well, so, it was never about a compatibility issue...

anyways, for me, i give Ritek DL media a "thumbs up"...wish Taiyo Yuden would start making some as then i would be a well rounded TY supporter in having tried ALL their various speeds/formats of media~ :)

as much as i like my TYs and Verbs and RitekG05s too~, i NOW have another star to add to my Ritek team~ :)

gonna add that to my sig momentarily~ :) good luck to you all with the DL media, Verbatim and Ritek hooray!~

Sorry for the ressurecting of the old post, but the subject still remains the same.

Anyway, just to let everyone here know, BB, this week, is offering a 10 pack of DL Verbatims for 19.99! It's a pretty damn sweet deal. I just ordered two sets. I think BB.com is offering free shipping but why wait when you can just pick it up at the store?

Also, as of yesterday (Saturday), Newegg had a sweet deal on DL Verbatims too. It was 18 for 33.99, including a deal on side combos you can add to the other. When I ordered from Newegg, they offered me, as a combo bonus, a free 5-pack of DVD-R verbatims. So for 33.99 (free shipping too), I got 18 DL Verbatims and 5 DVD-R verbs.

We should be paid for these free plugs lol.

    Happy burning!

If you pick them up at the store (BB), be careful. The price will ring up as $62. You need to go to customer service and have them 'price match' the on-line sale price
thanx to bunnyrip for this heads up

No problem for the Heads Up catfreak. I just thought I would save everyone interested in these the "Hassle" of going through the checkout, them calling a Manager, etc. etc. etc. Take them straight to Customer Service & they'll Price Match THEIR Online price! You WILL get them,(10 pack of Verb Dual Layer) for $19.99 + tax! Very Cool! I got some, Made in Singapore, MID as MKM 001. 2 Bucks apiece is The LOWEST Price I have ever seen!

i wasn't as lucky as you bunnyrip :( customer service WOULD NOT pricematch their own price~

if ANYONE here has gotten the 10 pack of Verb DLs for $19.99, AND can get more...PM me PLEASE, i will make it worth your while to get some for me and i will pay you back for the price of the product, your shipping cost to ship them to me plus a little spending cash on the side for your troubles...i am dead serious, i am looking at about 10 of these 10 packs that i need~ so, $200 + shipping costs+ a little something from my "side business"/cash for anyone who wants to help a disgruntled Los Angeles guy out~ :)

put it this way, if someone can do this for me, i will PAY for a 10 pack of Verb DLs that you can keep for yourself~ $20 free to you for your troubles, how does that sound?

    @kivory666,
Doc, I was able to get one online purchase only. I haven't been to my BB to see if they price-match but i will go there tomorrow. You are right, I checked back on the web page and they say sold out. Can you still get an order backfilled at the sales price if you order anyway? I checked the status of my order (it wasn't sold out when i ordered online) and this is what it shows

    2 Verbatim-10-Pack DVD+R DL Double-Layer Disc Spindle-95166

Status: Order in process of being fulfilled. Estimated arrival date: 10/06/2005 - 10/13/2005.

    Order Total: $41.98

I noticed BB has an order online, in store pickup. That might be worth a try next time they throw that "We dont match our own company's web page price" line of crap they seem to be pulling in LA. Of course we are still limited to 2 per order but i think there are creative ways around that. I will post an update as to what i find out at my local BB, when BB opens tomorrow morning.

    @maxburn

thanks ahead of time buddy for "checking tomorrow" for me~ if YOU can get them to pricematch it, then LOAD UP~ i will be more than happy to paypal/money order, wire, etc the money to you if you can help me out~ :)

yes, i TRIED the whole purchase online and use instore pickup line with the managers @ my LA bestbuys, after about 30 min. arguing with me that "THEIR POLICY OF PRICEMATCHING ONLINE PRICES IS NOT PERMITTED, and we don't have the power to override this in the computer" bs, i just got mad and left...waste of my time~ :) btw, at the time i tried to "order online" and choose "in-store pickup" as the option, it was ALREADY SOLD OUT, could NOT add the item(s) to my online shopping cart :(

so, it was all downhill from there~ :)

please PM tomorrow after you check @ ur local bestbuy, whether it be GOOD news or BAD news, i would still like to know how YOUR luck is over there in your neck of the woods :)

thanks for taking the time to "check it out" on my behalf, if YOU CAN get them for me, 10 packs of 10, i would be willing to send you a 100 pack spindle of TYs for all your troubles~ :) on top of the payment for the actual product + shipping :) sounds tempting huh? how often do you get an offer for 100 free GENUINE TYs from docTY himself? LOL just for helping me out~ hehe

Good call! I've noticed that Bestbuy does that a lot: advertise one price, charge you another, and hope you don't catch it (the difference in price is usually not as great as 63 vs. 19). If you do catch it, they make you run through hoops to get your money back.

    BUT

If you do purchase them online, and select "Store Pick up," you won't have to deal with any lines or the possibility of being over charged. My card has already been charged 21.68 (twice since I made two orders) so all I need is a copy of the email, the credit card i made the purchase with and my license, and I'll be good to go. The store pick up really is a great option. No lines and no shipping charges/wait.

My local BB had one pack of Verb DLs there with a price of 62.99 or something like that. No sales price sticker so my hopes were not high. A sales rep asked if she could help me, and i told her of the online web price. She said that yes they[bold] do match their own site[/bold], and printed out the web page sales price for me. She told me to take that printout to checkout and they would ring up the sale price. The checker needed a manager override to kick the price back down to 19.99, but that was the extent of my hassles. Didn't have to go to customer service either. This is an instant rebate thing, so no need to mail anything in. If you get to the web site and it doesn't say sold out, then yes, the in store pick up method is better. With it now being sold out, you can't select the in store pick up, or even backorder it. The best way is to go to your local BB, find the exact media on sale as is online, take a printout or get one printed out for you, and force them to obey logic. Try reasoning until you are blue in the face if needed, but it doesn't look like Doc had any luck using that method in LA. I was prepared to do some method acting and become an irate customer just to get this price. Luckally i didn't need to do any of that. So the official word on BB and online sales matching is, it depends on where your BB is located. Some do, some don't. Give acting a try at places that refuse to honor their own website. Don't get arrested though. Its not worth that price.. :) You could try logic, but stupidity doesn't respond well to logic. Good luck to all truely good media seekers out there. Fight the system! I will not be limited to this 2 per person BS >>> :) Lines are made to be crossed, up to a point. I'm just a rebel without a cause, or a clue.. :) Don't let the MAN bring you down.. Oops starting to show my age there..

Being that i used to work in a major retail thing, most stores will match their online prices. The printout is always a necessity because the prices and merchandise will always differ from what is offered in the local store (country-wide warehouse vs. local store). Also, the manager or supervisor/lead is usually needed to change the price if there's a difference of 10% or more. Yeah, I don't miss any of this at all. I was actually the supervisor/lead where I was, and I must say, that I don't miss it at all lol.

Anyway, Bestbuy SUCKS! Yes, I did make two SEPARATE orders for these special. I wanted to pick them both up at my local store but only one was available to pick up. I had to pick the other up at another location, which is further away but only by like 10 minutes. I went to that further store and found out that there aren't any left. I said this is ridiculous because I received an email at 830am saying that my item is "ready" for pick up. I had that email printed out and when I presented it there, they said, "Oh, we sent an email afterwards saying that we 'goofed.'" I said that's BS because i had my laptop on me all day, checking emails frequently. I never received such an email. I asked for proof, the guy said he can print it out. What a surprise, he had to go to the back, outta my sight, to print it out. He came back with a piece of paper that was OBVIOUSLY created using a copying machine (place a letter head on top, with a BS subject and body). As soon as he gave it to me, I crushed it. I said whatever and left.

I went to the next BB and that went smoothly. I got home, pissed off like hell, so I called the customer care center and asked for the corporate numbers because I wanted these lying a$$holes to be reprimanded. I got through and explained my situation and she was really sympathetic. They finally offered me a free shipping of this order, since it's unavailable everywhere.

1 for 2 ain't bad but it's very unprofessional to lie to a customer, especially when it's so easy to prove him wrong. I said, as I walked out, "You lied to the wrong person."

Oh well. I can't wait 'till I burn the DL. My newegg order should be coming in tomorrow (Tuesday) and hopefully this BB order will be in by the end of the week.

    Sorry for the rant.

Board newbie here. I just picked up a 25 pack of Memorex DL from Buy.com for $46.99 with free shipping. That's $1.88 per disk. Hope they're decent quality. They'll be delivered tomorrow. I'll let you know how they work out.

i for one can attest to the good quality of the Ridata RitekD01 coded DLs :) pretty darn good on MY setup so far~ got about 20 of them under my belt, yes, i know that is NOT a lot, but, 20 outta 20, still battin' 100% w/ no coasters *knocks on wood*~ :)

i would avoid the philips coded ones at ALL costs, meaning, would NOT buy the Memorex PERSONALLY~ but, hey, it's YOUR money, i haven't tried them yet and i never will, so, i can't say im speaking from experience, i just don't like to throw away money like that KNOWING that philips can't even make 4.7gb single layer right, what makes you think they have improved upon the DLs? common sense...

Where do I find the MID code? On the center ring it just says "Memorex" & "Is it live or is it Memorex?".

well, to ME they are~ :) i just don't want to personally take a chance w/ memorex as they ARE known to have the PHILIPS media ID in their new DLs~ too risky in my eyes~ but, yeah, i have used a handful of those RitekD01s and so far so good as i stated before...good luck dvdscum
