I purchased Dual Layer Verbatims to back up a couple seasons of South Park and i wanted to back up the full disc not just individual episodes. All came out well except for the fact that at the end of each segment or chapter the dvd didn't advance and i just had to press the skip forward button to get to the next chapter. is this an issue specific to dual layer dvds because i have never experienced it with the single layers or is there something that i'm missing or failing to do during the process that would have caused this. thanks for any help.

Hi, assuming u copied full disc with the menu and booktyped the dvd+r dl to dvd-rom, the disc should play fine as u suggested and that in the menu section u did click "play all" when u played the disc.BTW what is your algorithm to backup, please be specific. Thanks

thanks for the response. i'm definitely new to this -well, i've got the basics down at least- which is why i posted under the newbies. by algorithm, do you mean what process i use to back up. i know there's numerous options for backing up but i have been using DVD Shrink to rip and burn my DVDs because it was the easiest for me to understand.

DVD Shrink is not a great choice for a ripper, I would suggest DVDFab HD Decrypter as it is free and still being updated.

There are numerous guides, here is a good one specifically for these programs....with the addition of Imgburn.

EDIT: rereading your post all you need to do is rip the disc to your HDD with DVDFab HD Decrypter and then use Imgburn to burn the files to disc. Here is an Imgburn guide:
