    To whom It may concern,

This is the second trip to target to get a new dvd player. It is a Samsung dvd/vcr combo which sell for 100 or less. I burn a lot of my own dvd with any dvd and clonedvd 2 with all the latest updates. every time i play a burned dvd it freeze or stop playing. So i tried an org dvd and get the same problem. after trying them test i decided to bring the dvd back and try a new one with no luck i am getting the same problem. Now i put the dvd in my plextor player and burner and play the movies threw my laptop and get no problems. I am wondering if it is the cheapness of the dvd player because it had and has trouble handling both burned dl dual layer and org dvd. I am also wondering if there is a special dvd player you need to handel these. any help or fee back would be deeply appreaciated thank you

It's probably that the player doesn't like the media you're using. What brands are you using? For DL burning, don't use anything but Verbatim. Also booktyping +R discs to DVD Rom may help. Movies you buy are booktyped as DVD Roms. That's why they play in almost everything.

If it doesn't want to play original, store bought movies, it's the player. I'd return it, and get another brand. Better off to get a player and a vcr seperate, instead of combo. The combos are cheaply built.....
    Good luck!

well as far as the media goes that out. I use Verbs for my dvd9 DL and TY for the dvd 5 single layer. Booktyping perhaps that needs to be looked into as well as the speed i am burning at. The funny thing is i played this DL movie and it skiped in several places. So what i did was put it into my dvd burner and put it onto a dvd 5. the thing played perfectly in the same player. then i tried this i put the dvd back into the drive and made 2 more DL one at 2x2x4 and one at 4x and they both skiped I can't figured it out. anyway any advise would be appreaciated do they make a DL R - or are they only DL R +. For my single layer as i said i use TY and don't need to booktype.

Quite a few burners automatically booktype DL +Rs to dvd-rom.

How did u burn the DL? Are u burning a an ISO to DL or just the standard vob files? I burn a lot of Verb DL - and some Fuji's with no problems - and I first rip the movie to ISO and then burn with IMGBurn which handles the layer break better than any other prog I've tried or read about.

Have you defragged your hard drive lately? If you are ripping a disc onto a hard drive with fragmented files, sometimes the DVD that you're ripping gets fragmented also . . when this happens, you sometimes get a 'pause' when you retrieve the files in the DVD burning process . . this will cause freezing/pausing/pixelation
