I am having a problem playing dual layer discs that i have burned on my dvd player.I have a samsung hd 841, i have no problem burning them, just playing them. They play on my cheap 30 player but not on my samsung, which is a hd upconvert player. The 30 dollr cheapo has such a bad quality output it is deafeating the purpose of burning in dual layer. I am also using Memorex dvd+r dl, is that a bad media to use? Please help thanks alot.
Memorex has not been good media for a while now, if ever. At www.videohelp.com, people are reporting problems. However, some standalones do have problems playing back burned DL media as opposed to pressed DL media due to laser strength and other factors.
I have been using Verbatum DL's since I bought a Lite-On 832s. maybe 1 out of 10 became coasters. I then bought a Plextor 716A burner and now I get perfect copy everytime. I rarely use my DL's because of the cost, I only burn movies where I want all of the extra stuff on the DVD. The Plextor burns at 16x so I have been using Memorex or Ritek and have been getting great results.
thanks guys for the responses. I currently have a samsung ts-h552u. I think the problem is with dvd writer there are currenlty no programs that support changing of the booktype. I am also irrate because i bout the drive form an internet warehouse and canot return it for lets say a plxtor or a liteon wich has changing booktype options.
@jrrossi46, No offense here, but I smell some crap media there buddy. Yes... don't use any of "Shitmorex" products, either it's a DVD-R/+R/-RW/+RW or DL medias, I suggest you to "stay away" from Shitmorex period. On the other hand, if you still want to do your back up on DL media, then I highly recommend you to get the Verbatim 2.4X DVD+R DL, with "Advanced AZO" that's "MADE IN SINGAPORE" - this is the best DL blank in the market. I've backed up 10 movies using Verbatim DL media and they all plays flawlessly. Just a lil note for newbies that's all.
Thanks a bunch Akohol, its been a headache so far, thanks for lightening up the subject i will try your advice. I was just about ready to go buy another burner.
@jrrossi46, No problem and you're welcome here mate. Don't rush and head your way to the store and grab a new burner yet. You need to hear more from some of the most experiences members here at afterdawn.com first. Personally, I think it's a "low grade media issue" only. Why would you want to get a new burner anyways? Can you booktype on your dvd burner? If you have the current Nero, then you can back up DL movies easily, and Yes.... you can set the settings in Nero to "automatically change the booktype" into "DVD-ROM", which that will be more compatible with older and any new dvd player, XBOX or PS2 console system.
@jrrossi46, Like I said, if all you want is to have a good DL backed up movie. Then yes.... get the Verbatim DVD+R DL. Now if you want to booktype your settings on the DVD+R or DVD+R DL media, and if you happened to have Nero on your computer, this is even more easy to back up DL movie. Nero can easily back up DVD9 (DL) movies now. Hope this help you a little, it may be off the topic a little bit, but I thought I'll share it in here for you, since you did mentioned something about you "can't" change the "booktype" on your dvd burner. I may be wrong, but as for as I know, I did the following settings and I get all my burned copies turns out to be DVD-ROM. At least you can try to do this on Nero and see if it will help the issue you were having besides the media alright. (((To change booktype into DVD-ROM using NERO))) 01) open up your Nero program 02) click on Nero Express, click on Copy Entire Disc 03) click on "Options" this is on the right, next to "source drive" and "destination drive" 04) on lower left hand, where you see "booktype settings", use arrow down to high lighted the "Automatic" option, then click "OK" to change it. That's it.... you're done and now whenever you're going to use either Nero's Burning Rom, Express, Recode 2 or Nero's vision, it will "automatically" change the booktype into "dvd-rom" in prior to the actual backing up process. Hope this help you a little. I did this to my Nero and all my PS2 games and DVD movies have successfully backed up in a DVD-ROM format. Happy burnings...!!!
Awsome, ok now what if i want to copy a dvd using dvd decrypt then nero to burn it on to dual layer, cause when i put in lets say oceans 12 it says copywright protected.dud u are cool for helping i have talked to so many people and have not been able to help me. thanks
@jrrossi46, Not a problem here, I'm only trying my best to help and you're welcome. Yes.... you should do that, by meaning let DVD Decrypter "decrypted" the movie and or "bypass" its "copyrighted or protection code" first. You then open up NERO [since Nero can do "automatically" booktype to DVD-ROM] and you back it up as to your desire i.e. CUSTOM, DVD5 or DVD9 (DL). To do that, do as the following steps: (((basic steps using DVD Decrypter and NERO to back up DVD9 (DL) movie)) 01) put good quality DL blank in dvd burner (I recommend Verbatim DL media) 02) put original dvd movie in dvd rom drive AA) open up your C: drive or Hard Drive, File, New Folder, and name it MYNEWMOVIEBACKUP, hit [ENTER] to SAVE it. Closed that now. 03) open up DVD Decrypter, MODE, ISO, READ R 04) set "source" from your dvd rom drive and "destination" to the New Folder you created on your Hard Drive earlier on step AA. 05) hit "DECRYPT", now sit back, relax and wait for DVD Decrypter to completed. ****once you're done "decrypting" the movie into your HD using DVD Decrypter. 01) open up NERO (or STARSMART), click on the "DVD tab icon" or the drop down menu. 02) use your MOUSE to "highlighted" or get to the "COPY & BACKUP" icon, which is the 2 silver discs and an camera icon, then click on "BURN Image to Disc" icon [the red match and disc icon]. 03) you then can browse to your Hard Drive and look for the movie you want to back up [this is the movie you use DVD Decrypter to "decrypt" earlier], and then hit "OPEN" 04) on "Writing Speed" use Arrow down to choose 2.4X or to the DL media's capabilities that stated on the DL blank. 05) click "NEXT" and "BURN" it. That's it.
Dude you have just solved all my problems. I have been beating my dvd burner for the past 3 days.I appreciate it so much.Hope to see you around the forums.thanks
@jrrossi46, No problem here mate. Like I said, I could only try my best to help out others upon noticing that I may be able to solve or help only. Just a word of advice. You can eliminate DVD Encrypter altogether if you start using AnyDVD. You can download it for a free 30 day tryout and then if you like it it's pretty to buy. When you buy the software you get free updates for life and believe me, they update 1 or 2 times a month to stay ahead of all protection. That way if you want to use Nero(if you have to, I think there are alot of simpler, cheaper ways to go to copy movies) all you have to use then is the Nero Recode feature in Nero. You can do it alot quicker if you can get your hands on Intervideo DVD Copy 3, 1 Click Copy to DVD, or alot of other copy software. Do you get the idea I hate Nero? Don't get rid of your DVD Encrypter, though, it's great for handling of ISO's.
