Hi, My eMachine W5243 has 1.5GB and it said single, does having Dual better or Single because i have two RAM bar and IDK if single or dual better...
the reason it says single is that even tho you have 2 sticks of ram, 1 is 1gig & the 2nd is 512meg. replace the 512meg stick with hopefully an identical 1gig stick to give you 2gigs in dual channel mode.
What i meant is Dual is better or Single is better.. or it's no different? and i know which is which... So there's no different but i just need 2 Gig to make it dual instead of single?
dual means 2 identical sticks of ram. dual channel is better then single as long as motherboard supports dual channel.
If i put dual, i only have 1GB installed... and if i have single, i have 1.5GB installed... Which better(in my case of 1GB/1.5GB) single or dual?
when putting 2 sticks in, you are showing 1gig installed? what size are those 2 sticks? they do not make 1.5gigs of ram as they make only 128meg, 256meg, 512meg, 1gig, 2gig & 4gig sticks but not 1.5gigs. to show 1.5gig means you have a 512meg plus a 1gig stick for 1.5gig or 2x1gig with 512meg assigned to onboard video giving you 1.5gigs.
What i meant was that, is 1.5GB 1Gb=512MB and 1GB is 512MB+512MB... 1GB is dual so it it better or do you recommend 1.5GB?
