Hi all, as with everyone else in Dublin my decoder (The Box PVR - Cable provide: NTL) went on Thursday. I've since carried out the firmware update as per DesB's thread (ID: 722659). The update went fine but I still can't decode any channels. Has any NTL The Box PVR user managed to find a fix for this problem by either updating firmware or disabling the autoupdate & manually adding Nagravision codes?

    Thanks in advance.

PS - Cheers DesB & Scouser for all your work.

Try factory reset, auto scan and then emu on exit to s*y2 and leave it to update.

Ignore last question Evastar, EMU is actually the Autoupdate option. When i enabled Key Code in Sys. Setup menu, the unit automatically updated, it's alive - happy days!

Thanks again for your help Evastar,

    over and out.

Assuming you've updated the firmware, make sure that Key Code is set to the On position in the System Setup menu and Autoupdate (in Parental Control)is also set to On. That should sort ya' out CBray.

Dubuser, I am having same problem. Can you send me all the advice that you received, please. Do you need a special cable to connect the Box to a USB connection or is it thro' serial cable with some form of converter to USB ? Much appreciated. Jimout

Alright Jimout here's The Box PVR update procedure from start to finish:

1.Download the firmware update from the URL below:

    http://www.4shared.com/account/file/7517...081208_FIX.html

2.Decompress this file using WinRar – you can download WinRar from link below, http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-2250_4-10007677.html and save its contents to a folder on your Laptop.

3.Connect your Laptop to The Box PVR using a USB A (rectangular std. connector) to B (square connector) cable – kinda’ USB cable you’d connect a PC / Laptop to a printer.

4.On The Box PVR control select Menu, HDD Mode Change (Default Pin: 0-0-0-0). After keying in Pin HDD Mode Change will have changed from PVR to PC.

5.On your Laptop you should now see an extra harddrive in My Computer – assuming you’re using a MS Windows O/S. Navigate to the downloaded folder that you previously decompressed and copy the file called “TheBoxPVR_v3105_08Dec2008.bin” to the “Firmware” folder on the newly available harddrive.

6.Disconnect the USB cable from your Laptop, then on The Box PVR re-enter the Pin code (0-0-0-0). This will change the decoders harddrive back to PVR mode and The Box PVR will automatically reboot and flash the new firmware.

7.Once the firmware has been successfully flashed the Box will be back to Factory Default. Go to System Setup and switch Key Code to On. Then enter Parental Control & key in i2007 & switch Autoupdate On and press exit.

8.Lastly press Menu – Installation & change cable network to NTL and carry out an Autoscan, all going right that should be you sorted out.

    All the best,

    Dubuser.

Thank you DesB. I have the file. Do you have another e-mail I can get you on this evening,in case I have problems.? I am limited to 3 replies per day.

It looks straight forward. IS there a link to a site to explain details, although dubuser seem to have explained very well.

Hello DesB, Thanks for help earlier. I have downloaded the file into "firmware" folder. Its there. I can see it.

Tried to carry out instructuctions, keeps rebooting. When I check the version is still V4.506 15Oct2007. I don't think it is flashing to the box.

Where is Key Code switch i system setup ?
