Looking at the review, it looks much harder to install than the Xeno GC! So I wonder why anyone would buy this over the Xeno?

some people have complained that the XenoGC's pcb does not 100% fit on certain models of GCs though, which is why im considering this over the XenoGC.

Also , this is the DUO chip ;)

Got my Duo just today, from getting it out of the envelope to having it installed took under an hour, including being incredibly careful with dismantling the cube. Nintendo sure went to a lot of trouble to make sure it didn't fall apart, so many screws... Works perfectly so far, plays copied games, originals from different regions and copies from different regions without fault. Next thing I want to work out is booting from memory card, think I'll need to make me a boot disc or something with the appropriate .dol or GCoS or something.

All in all, no problems, fantastic value for money, no hassles with installation. Has a little sticky pad on the back of it, and the install diagram pretty much shows the right place to stick it down. There is no configuration or anything required, IT JUST WORKS. I love it when things just work.

EDIT: Soldering was a piece of cake, don't worry about what they said in that review. If you just use a low power, needle point soldering iron even an amateur can solder with surgical precision, with very little worry of damage. The D0 point on the xbox, now that can be a pain, all of these points are a walk in the park in comparison.

    aaur4, Ah I see, didn't realise that.

I guess you could use wires (like the Duo) to install the Xeno GC if you bought it and it turned out not to fit.

The Xeno GC lined up fine in my 'cube thankfully coz I'm not great at soldering. Those wires scare me!

Good luck with whichever you go for!

EDIT: OZmick, I got DOL to to work using this bootable disk thingy (mine was a Nes emulator), don't know if you'll need it with the Duo... http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1216

Pfft, that's crap. You waste a disc every time you want something new. Did a bit of work, found http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gc-linux/sdload.iso.bz2?download which is the program I knew existed, but didn't know someone had already made an iso for it. Burn that baby to a disc, copy your .dol files to the memory card (either over BBA with PSOload or with SD card adapter or any of the other memory cards you can access with PC) and you're laughing. Tested just a moment ago, and works.

Cool cheers for the link. Ha ha the bootable disk making wotsit aint crap, it has it's uses, like for Nes and Snes emulator plus roms that would have no chance of fitting on a memory card.

And if you aint got a BBA or nout.

Yeah, I would also like to know if you needed to alter your POT. I used RiTek Mini DVD-Rs, and I know thats the brand to buy.

Point taken with the roms. I didn't need to adjust my potentiometer at all, and I'm using Ritek mini DVDs too. Got mine from http://www.genesysdtp.com/ritekminidvdrijdetails.htm ordered like 100, so got them delivered for around AU$100, actually discovered the website by trying to get a quote from their ebay account. Their user name might have been SecondsOut or something of that nature. They offer a whole bunch of buy-it-nows with various pack sizes, got them delivered very quickly.

Whats the best way to NES, SNES, Sega ROMS with either a DUO Q or XenoGC installed?

Should I buy an SD loader, or MAX Drive?

You can burn a disk with the nes, snes or megadrive emulator and roms on, and the Xeno/Duo will be fine.

You need to make a bootable disk which is pretty easy with the help of some stuff from the Tehskeen website.

Have you downloaded a load of roms or somehting?

    Hello guys,
I have just bought a duoQ modchip for my PAL nintendo gamecube.
My big problem is that the diagram shown at http://www.duomodchip.com/english/install/duoq/duoqdiagram.jpg does not correspond to my board version, so i cannot plug it.
The reference behind the GC is DOL-001(EUR)and i can't see tne CN302 place where it seems that it shoulb be plug.
The ref. on the Side-A board is C/DOL-CPU(P)-01.
    Thanks for your help !

Mine is PAL, but I didn't have any such problems... Just to be certain, you are looking at the circuit board that is connected to the laser unit? I had to remove a metal shield with about six screws to expose the circuitry.

I personally didn't even look at any of the component numbers, I just got the general location of the pads that needed to be soldered onto and went for it.

Maybe you could look up some reference pics for the XenoGC, you might be able to work out where things are located on board revisions, I seem to recall seeing like three different diagrams for it. The XenoGC and the DuoQ use the same technique for booting, so the solder points should be SIMILAR, but not necessarily the same. Just use the pictures for general information only! Hope that helps maybe.

EDIT: I might have been wrong about the three different pictures, can only find one now that I mention it and looking again, sorry... It only shows the one single location...

Great OzMick, you are right !
I was not looking at the circuit board that is connected to the laser unit but the board that is under ?
So I have just remove the metal shield with about six screws and now I CAN SEE the CN302 place! I am going to solder now and i think it is going to be fine

Thanks a lot for your help and have a good day.
    Bye

No problem dude, with so little information on the chip on the internet, the only way to work things out is to help each other. Glad I could help!
