Duo SE Problems

I have a problem. it seems that the games i burn do work the only problem is that my chip doesnt seem to stay on long enough to boot them. I've noticed that i only have until the white squares on the ps2 screen to boot the game. If the spinning orbs screen comes on and its still reads my backup it brings up the please insert a playstation 2 format disk screen. Can someone tell me if there is something wrong with my chip?
