a friend of mine brought back his V9 claiming it wont boot anything... checked all the connections, everything checks out. Swaped chips with no luck, removed the chip and cleaned all the points. STILL will not boot originals, drive keeps spinning but nothing boots

when I pulled the top off the laser housing the laser WAS comming on

I dont notice any blown fuses either.

Sounds to me like a chip got fried from too much heat maybe. What watt soldering iron did you use? Or maybe bridged something blowing a component?
