I have purchased one of these modchips, and when I was about to install it something caught my eye on the DuoX web site (or somewhere else I can't remember) about how its something about Linux something something.....and I got confused >_<

Basically all I want to know is, which memory bank should I have the chip set to (Bank0 = Cromwell, Bank1 = FlashBios (3.03-1)) that will alow me (without any other software installation) to put in a burned DVD and play it straight from the DVD. I do not want XBMC or run games off of the HDD. I just want the Xbox to play burned games XD.

    Thanks

well, if you use a non-stock bios then you will be able to boot unsigned code as well as (un)signed code from a non-xbox disk. so if bank 0 = cromwell with the stock = microsoft bios, then you will boot the xbox as you would buy one straight out of the shop. then you cannot boot any copy or unsigned code and you need to softmod it or put in a hardmod.

you put in another chip (hardmod), so if you boot from that chip the ms cromwell bios will be bypassed and the xbox will boot from the modchip's bios. that bios will allow you to load both signed and unsigned codes as well as booting directly from non-xbox disk. so put your switch to the modded bios, and then you can boot and copied game directly. no need to softmod or anything else. just put the copied disc in, make sure you are booting from a non-stock bios and your good to go

yes, set to bank 1. but you can just try both. put a copy in, and boot up. try first bank 1, then bank 0. any modified bios will boot a copy as if it was an original. if i put a copy into my drive, it boots up immediately just like an original one
