duplicate copyprotected dvd to harddrive

    i rented this movie, now i did try to buy it before i rented it, but no stores had it, so i rented it and now i just want to copy it to my external harddrive but it gives me an error message
    "cannot copy vts_01_3:data error(cycle redundancy check)
    any help

    You need to rip the dvd in order to make a copy. All dvd's have a protected copyright because it is illegal to make copies. Even to back up an already purchased dvd I think.
    Although, if you dont rip a rented dvd, you can easily get it from the internet anyway. So it doesn't matter.
    Smart ripper, or download dvd decrypter to make a backup disk.

    Also, its not a good idea to burn alot with you dvd burner, because it slows down your computer. So I've been told

    as above,but this may mean the disk is dirty or scratched
