I have a Compaq Armada portable with a Matshita UJDA510 DVD-ROM drive. I used to have no problem playing DVD movies, but lately several won't play. The system behaves as though the drive is empty. A good example is the Harry Potter DVD-- Disk 1 (the movie) won't play, but Disk 2 (extra features) works fine. Is this some kind of DVD-5 vs 9 format difference? I have noticed that the little bar code near the hub may be related-- fat bar code: okay; skinny bar code: no way.
