I am on a Mac, so I used MacTheRipper to copy the dvd to my computer, then I used DVD Imager to burn the movie to my DL Ridata. I am using the Sony DRX-710UL DVD burner and the Denon 3910 home dvd player. The dvd will play fine on Sony, and the first half played fine on the Denon. I got about half way through and the dvd just got stuck. I tried to fast forward past that point, and it would not go any further, so I skipped to the next chapter, and it played for several seconds then started to freeze up again. So I put into my internal dvd player on my G5, and it played fine. I had this same thing happen with another movie. Do you think that it is a problem with the Ridata's and my Denon player? I bought some Virbatems, but I don't want to waster another dvd if there could be something else going on.
How fast did you burned? What format is your backup media (i.e. DVD-R or DVD+R)? Since your burner does support "book typing" DVD+R into DVD-ROM, why don't you try some top notch media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "advanced azo or dataplus life" and Hitachi's Maxell (mij) and have Nero Burning Rom or Nero Express to "automatically" book type them into DVD-ROM. Or if you don't have Nero, you can get DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn (both are free). Maybe that'll solve your issue.
I hate to tell you, but you probably already know this, MAC's are great computers, but there is limited amount of software, and when you find some good software, it may cost up the you know what, compared to Windows software......there is some much of it. Bottom line, get a PC. Best of luck, Rich
