W 22:58:10 Retry Failed - Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format

I keep getting this error in DVD Decrypter after I have used DVD shrink to reauthor the movie and now I am trying to burn it to a disc but it is failing - any suggestions?

Sounds like it doesn't like your media or your burner doesn't write to that format.
What media are you using? Is your burner dual format?

I am using MEritline DVD-R and my dvd burner is dual formatted. I tried a Staples Brand DVD-R and haven't checked back to see if works. Reading some other forums it was suggested to uninstall DVD decrypter and reinstall it - I have yet to try that. It just started happening all of a sudden after I had burned about 20 DVDs so it is just strange - but it happens more with the meritline dvds than the cheaper media I was using.

I think my brand of DVD burner is Pacific something

    Thanks for the help

Go into the tools tab in DVD Decrypter the drive and then capabilities. You will see your drive listed with its current firmware. When you get that information post it back.

Yep thats why I asked the two questions I asked.. Need to know you burners model number so we can direct you to where you can get a new firmware upgrade. Also the disk you are using are questionable. We need to know the Manufacurer Identification Code (MIC) to know for sure who makes them. Download the program DVDIdentifier http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm
Then put one of your blank DVD's in your drive and let DVDIdentifier check it out. It will give you the manufacturer code of the disk can you let us also know what that is..

    Thank you :)

TOSHIBA CD/DVDW SD-R5372 is DVD burner

Firmware TU31 - i was sent to the internet to update but got an error while searching.

DVDs using TYG02 and CMC MAG.AE1 - prefer the first one.

    Not a problem.
What did you do to get it working?

I uninstalled and reinstalled DVD decrypter along with a firmware update - thought that had solved but I think there might be problems with my DVD shrink. It worked okay on 3 or so movies last night then it started popping up errors on Bruce Almighty. The same ones - frustrating is all that it is and a waste of DVDs - is it possible there is something corrupt in my DVD shrink software?

You could try uninstalling both and do a defrag of your hard drive and then do a fresh re-install. Or have you tried any other burning software to see if the problem is with Shrink and Decrypter. You could try using Nero if you have it, or download the 21 day trial version of AnyDVD and CloneDVD and see if these programs work, if they do then you know it is software. You could also try another brand of disks such as Verbatim these are good and should not give problems.

Good luck and I hope this solves the problem. If not come on back and we will keep trying.
