i was wandering does dvd burning use more system resources than cd burning (making a copy? i ask because when i burn a cd the buffer level is at 97% whereas when i do a dvd it fluctuates.

How much does it fluctuate?(out of curiosity)

You have to figure with a CD you're messin' around with
about 700 MB of data and with a DVD you'e talking around
4 GB. So the burner software is prolly gonna' try to use
much larger memory buffers to keep the burner fed. Plus
the HD has to transfer more data etc..

If it fluctuately widly like from 100% to 10% like a metronome, then you
might have a problem. Are you getting very long burns? Like, over 30 minutes long or what's happening?
