Please can someone help me with a query I have about a DVD burner. I have just purchased a dvd burner and on reading the system requirements it states that the minimum pc spec is a P3 with a 1ghz processor, I have exactly this and so thought everything was ok to go. Then I noticed that it stated that I need to have at least 20GB of free hard drive disc space ... my whole HD is 20GB !! I am really confused as I was of the impression that I wouldn't need to have a massive hard drive to install a dvd burner ... obviously enough to store movies etc but once burned onto dvd I would delete it them from my hd. Please can you advise me if my pc is suitable for this hardware ? Will it be able to handle burning movies etc to dvd or would my hard drive struggle ? Any help greatly appreciated. cool4cats
That spec is for storing the movie/video etc. The drive just needs enuf free space on the hard drive to save it to. The drive burner should be good but the hard drive will be a struggle. Ripping just a movie is usually over 7 gig. If your using something like CloneDVD or Shrink though it will compress the movie so you'll need about 4.5 gig free. I think another good investment would be an external drive
Thanks so much for your help binkie7. I am going to invest in an external hard drive, it's a good idea of yours to get one ... then I'll have no problems with space Thanks again !
You're welcome cool4cats Yeah external hard drives are so cheap now it's crazy - good for us consumers
