I have some movies and ISOs im trying to burn to DVD and neither seem to be working (i used to be able to do it fine!). In device manager it says i have these drive bays: - IDE-DVD ROM 16X - PHILIPS DVD8421 I'm trying to burn movies to these. When i put them in the drive it says there is nothing there and sometimes freezes the pc for a few minutes. I'm trying to burn ISOs to these. It allows me to burn to them but once the job is "successfully" done, ill run the DVD and it will either not find any files or find corrupt files. If i try and look at the files on the DVD it just sounds like its skipping over and over. Somebody told me that it was because my burner was so old, so i got a new one - http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?LIT-DX20RT. I tried burning a few movies and they all seemed to work fine with the new burner, but ISOs still have the same problem. Even the new drive i have sounds like it is skipping, when i try and view the files it will let me sometimes and not other times, always taking a long time to search for them on the DVD. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks.
there are a # of possibilities that might be going on here: 1. your media is not being recognized so switch to better media! Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim..... those are the only ones I use and it stops plenty of problems that come along by using crappy media! 2. check your ISOs. how did you get your ISOs? there might be a problem with that so when you try to burn to disk you get problems. 3. what programs are you using to burn these ISOs?
Thanks for the reply. The ISOs are downloaded and im sure they are fine as I've tried to run them from a virtual drive (alcohol 120%) where i am able to run them fine. I'm using powerISO to burn them which has always worked in the past. I don't think it can be down to number 1 as sometimes it will read the disk and not other times. eg. After a few tries the splash screen might come up but when i click install it will either not find the files or say something like "install.exe is not a valid win32 application"...
the most simplest and easiest thing to do is to buy better media! But that again most Newbies fight this issue. I can't tell you how many times Newbies think that they know it all about media! here is a media guide for you: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm this will show a good indication on what's out there and what is good and what is not! The only thing I disagree with is it's classification of TDK media... it's second rate at best! the media you are using, Novatech, is not even listed on here. The rule of thumb on media is to buy MADE IN JAPAN media.... second would be Verbatims, made in Singapore/Taiwan. Taiyo Yuden is the best and I highly recommend it. When you are having problems with burning issues it's 99% of the time a media problem. Whether it's a recognition or a quality issue with the media being used it's still a problem and needs to be addressed. changing the media is so simple and yet most people don't want to believe that such a thing can fix their problems. So simple and right in front of them and yet YOU CAN'T MAKE THE HORSE DRINK THE WATER EVEN IF IT'S STANDING IN IT!~ *** If you have an ISO then why don't you burn it with ImgBurn.... it's a great burning software that is free! http://www.imgburn.com/ it's much better than PowerISO and it's free!
Can't agree more with Ihoe. Crappy media is crappy media. There's just no excuse to use junk media when the good stuff is so readily available. Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. That's all i, along with many other members here, use in our burners and standalones. Period. Also agree one might want to just pick up the best free burning engine out there. ImgBurn. Mode > Read Mode > Write to ISO Get ImgBurn here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/imgburn.cfm
all 3 ISOs i have come up with an error.. 2x invalid udf filesystem 1x invalid mds file contents shall i delete them or can they be fixed?
extract the iso's with winrar into files/folders or use isobuster to extract, or load to a virtual drive / explore via dvdrom extract... tell me what you got... and if it errors on extraction ----------------------------------- are they main movie only? can you play the .VOB files ok?
oh its software not a dvd film? aslong as the dvd doesnt need booting, copy all files to HD, then use nero on dvdrom iso project...
Its a game. Sorry for the confusion, i was having trouble trying to burn movies too but the problem was fixed when i bought the new burner.
tell me if the files copy to hd with no errors... you can load this game from a virtual drive or from the files on HD, click SETUP.EXE to install game...
Took a while but i extracted the files from winRAR with no errors and im able to install it okay too.
Before i got a new burner i could not burn movies or ISOs onto dvd. After i got the new burner it fixed the movies but im still not able to burn ISOs. I was able to unRAR the ISOs i have and put the contents on my hard drive, i could then install the game fine from the files on the hard drive. I'm still not able to install from a dvd that i have burnt, the files on the dvd always seem to be corrupted or something and the drive seems to skip over and over. I'm trying to make a backup of the ISO on dvd. Thanks.
trying to burn the iso doesnt work does it? think you tried that? but you maybe able to burn the files, well i know you can burn the files you extracted instead, use nero on DVD-ISO project in burning rom... do it this way and not burning the iso. i got a feeling its the dvdR used are ay fault? then try dvd
