The programs I'm using aren't recognizing my burner as a drive so I can't rip the movie from the hard drive to the disc (I have a burner outside of my computer...two separate drives for reading/burning). How can I get the programs to recognize my burner which is holding the blank disc? Thank you
how is your burner hooked up to the computer? are you using a USB? When you go to MY COMPUTER is the drive recognized? If it is then try a different disk and see if it works. It could be the disk is not compatible to your drive. Again..... what disk are you using..... what is the make and model of your drive..... do you have the current firmware for your drive?
Hi, IHoe. I have an external HP DvD Writer630e hooked up through a USB port and it has been recognized MANY times before. I've used DVDShrink for a long time with no problems but when I'm backing up this particular disc, the burner is not being recognized for some reason. I'm using Memorex DVD+R RWs and, again, I've used these before with no problem. I think the problems is with the programs that I just started using with each other: DVDShrink, DVDDecrypter, FixVTS and RipIt4Me (I've never used them together before, so maybe I'm doing something wrong). I've tried following the guides, but none of them say what to do if the burner isn't recognized. Thank you for your help!
I got news for you........ Memorex is the crappiest media you can get! here is a media guide for you: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm use disks made in Japan, Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim (this is top notch media even though it's made in Taiwan/Singapore) Sony, Fuji, Maxell.... just remember [bold]Made-in-Japan[/bold]. By using the better quality disks will stop problems like you're having now. The Programs are not your problem. use better media. then if there is no change adn your drive is the problem you can move on knowing that it's not the media! Another thing is ..... Shrink has not been updated for years now..... if you are trying to copy a newer DVD it might not work! But, using RipIt4Me will correct this! do me a favor.... find out what's your firmware on your drive: 1 set your source drive then do 2 and 3! You'll get a box telling you what your current drive's firmware is and if there are any updates for you. Firmware for your burner as that sets new write strategies for new media thats out.. Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. Every company has its own methods to allow you to do a firmware upgrade. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades. To find you firmware go to your burner homepage and find the firmware for you make and model. so having the most up to date firmware for your drive is important!
Great! Thank you so much for your help, I'll start using that media instead. And I unplugged and plugged back in my burner and it is being recognized now. So hopefully that fixed that problem. But thanks for the advice, have a good one!
