Ok i have a BENQ DVD DD DW1620 with firmwire B7U9 Im using Roxio 6 Creator Classic for burning data. the problem is that when i want to burn something it shows me that i can burn at max of 4x when my DVD writer is 16xWrite and 8xRead the DVD-R Blank Disks are 8x too so why is it that i can only burn at 4x!?

What brand of blank media are you using?? I have read that your burner sometimes has problems with cheap/poor quality blank media. Keep in mind that when burning a dvd movie you shouldn't burn faster than 4x. It might not matter as much when burning a DATA ONLY dvd.

I've got 2 Benq 1620s.Awesome burners, and near perfect compatable backups on stand alones when those backups are booktyped: They do favor the plus format. They booktype the plus format turning them into dvd-roms.

I'm also curious on that media.Dowload this free handy program and let us know what the MID code is:

In the dash format that I no longer use,The sony 1x-8x and Maxell 8x gold tops performed pretty good. Both were able to be max burned at 12x using nero and dvd decrypter. Ty-g01's also worked very well.

It may be your roxio software.

The only media I ran into that they didn't like was verbatim digital movie quality -4x. The plus's were sweet.
