Until two days ago I thought a burner was a burner, but now I am not so sure.

For more than a week I had been looking for information on several forums (in AfterDawn too) to improve on some strobo effects I got when converting some 23.976fps avi files onto MPEG2.

What I got was a "choppy", "stuttered" image whenever there was a pan or camera movement. It should be noted that you should expect some artifacts when you go from a frame rate to another, particularly when going from lower (23.976) to higher ones (29.976 or 30.0).

Procoder and TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress were the programs I used to do the conversion, but I wanted authoring with DVDLab Pro, so as to add several subtitles.

To save time (and thinking I was doing the best thing) I burned the test records within DVDLab Pro too.

Well: it was not the best thing, because by chance I could find out that when I authored in DVDLab but burned with CloneDVD2 the strobo effect was much diminished. So the burner INSIDE DVDLab was doing something wrong or was not as compatible with these files as it should be.

Has anyone tried different burning programs and got different results? Which were better?
