I try burning and I get a buffer too large message. It's not the firmware since I've tried upgrading it already. Anyway here's the log and hopefully you guys can help me:

This version is full of bugs, uninstall, run this clean tool
http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install this version 7.10.1.0 from here
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?2893

DMA needs to be on, heres a guide to turn back on

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

You have Roxio installed, it clashes with Nero, to remove, run this zapper http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

I'll try that, it might take a while since I only have a 384 kbps connection but thanks for the tip. :)

I followed the guide but I don't see any IDE channels just ATA/ATAPI
    [IMG]

First, what's Roxio? I don't remember installing it... Second, download link won't work. I tried googling but every download link I see ends up with the "File not found" page.

the highlighted part is the ide channels...

go in those and check DMA

if in PIO, uninstall the main ide CONTROLLER then reboot pc, now check dma

There's also no 'Advanced Settings' for that one (should've mentioned it in above post).

it is something to do with viadsk and the drivers

your drives seem to be SCSI, now do you know for sure they are IDE drives? or are they SATA drives?

if IDE have you turned on RAID funtionality in the bios?

    ---------------------
have you removed the roxio driver?
    ---------------------

you could try this update nero AND via drivers from the motherboards website. if it stays the same then uninstall via and use microsofts to try...

Sorry but I have no idea what you meant by that. I don't really know much about PCs... But I do know that I use IDE because my cables are thick and white...

I think so... I already ran roxizap but I still can't remember installing a roxio program...

Once again I have no idea what via drivers are..

Sorry for asking so many questions, I'm not really good with this stuff. I'm a first-year I.T. student but the only thing I've learned is C programming. And thanks for being patient Rotary :)

    ok

updating nero is easy either go via the nero app or go to the website...

VIA drivers will be found on the makers website of your motherboard, if i knew what your pc was called full spec i could locate then for you...

    now try a burn etc...

    ---------------------

do the above 2 steps first then we will go to other drivers, if we can?...

uninstall the lot! then load the new in!

uninstall via from add/remove progrmas maybe? or try in device manager...

    reboot pc

    then tell me what happens

it will ask you if ok to install on loading, only allow the new drivers in!

The only options for the main link are scan for changes and to see the properties. And clicking the properties will just show you the words "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers".

Oh and may I ask, how do I make Nero 8(the one that you provided) save log files?(nvm)
