DVD Burning Error: Unable To Create The Disc Structure

After 6 months of successful burning my dvd burner suddenly stopped burning dvd's. I use the program Nero Vison Express 3. The error message I recieve says this "Unable to create the disc structure". My burner has the latest firmware. I've contacted Nero and the manufacturers of the burner but neither were able to find a solution to my problem.

The slowest Speed it would let me use was 6x and I tried this but it still didn't work and I got the same error message. I also have Maxell 8x dvd's and they have the same problem.
What should I do next?

What is the nero clean tool?

 

Nevermind I understand now.

 

I did every thing you said but it still did not work and gave me the same error message. I downloaded the AnyDVD program from the link above and when it starts up it gives me this message:

WARNING!

No Dvd Drive Dectected!

Possible Reasons:

1. You Don't have a dvd drive, buy one.

2. You haven't rebooted your system after AnyDVD has been installed. Please restart your computer.

3. Your external DVD drive is not powered or not properrly connected.

4. There is a problem initialising the AnyDVD driver.


I don't know what to do. Maybe there is something wrong with the actual burner? If so how could that have happened when it was working fine for 6 months?

Success!

I downloaded Imgburn and after using nero to convert the file to an image file (.nrg) imgburn successfully burned the dvd. I did run the nero clean tool as well before re-installing it. Nero still won't work so I don't know what happened to it. One last question I haver is what does verifying the disc after burning do and is it neccesary? Thanks a lot for the help!

Hi, I'm not sure if this thread is still active or not but I'm having a problem burning dvds again. I am using the ImgBurn program this time. After several successful burns the program has stopped working. The problem occurs just after the file has burned to the dvd and is in the process of synchronising the cache (whatever that means?). The reason it gives for this error is: "Program Memory Area Update Failure" This ruins the disc because the file has been burned to it but the disc won't play without successfully completing this last step.
Any suggestions?

 

Sorry bud no suggestions.. I am having the same error you had before ""unable to create data structure on disc" But it only gives me that error when I use Sony dvd-r's but it works with the crapy Office Depot dvd-r's ahhhhh

 

Well I just tried it again and it worked but it failed 3 times earlier today. It seems pretty random but it's annoying when it ruins the discs.
