I am new to this so please be gentle LOL, I have read all day until my eyes blead on this forum and many others. This is where I am at. I am trying to to burn some DVD's and get them to play on my stand alone players, I have an older Toshiba 3109, a new Toshioba DVD again ( Cannot remember the model ) DVD player about a year old and a brand new JVC Combo DVD/VCR Player. I keep getting disk error no matter what when I put the DVD in yet all play NO problem on my laptop. I am using the following, DVD Decryptor V3.1.9.0, DVD2One V140 and Nero 6 Ultra V6.3.0.3 I use Decryptor first and all goes fine all the files go to the folder I created, then I use DVD2One again all goes well and to the folder I created. I then open Nero and choose DVD Projects and then DVD Video When Nero opens the project says new and then under that there is an Audio TS and a Video TS folder, on the right those 2 folders only appear also. Now according to the instructions I RIGHT click on the RED VIDEO_TS folder and choose add files and take ALL of the files that are there which are .vob, .bup and .ifo , I have been taking all of them and I have tried taking just the .vob also NO GO !! Now I did ALLOT !! of reading on the DVD Ripping forum and found the following when Nero is involved. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If your dvd-r will not play in your stand-alone player when burned with nero, this is because your stand alone supports UDF1.02. when you burn a dvd with nero using DVD VIDEO ,settings nero burns the disc in UDF 1.05. most players especially new models support this.........but some older players do not.hence when you put the disc in your player you get "disc error" or something similar, but if you put the disc in, say your friends player it plays good. follow these steps. 1/ make sure all your movie files are in a folder called VIDEO_TS (must be caps). 2/ open nero, click close wizard. 3/ in the new compilation choose dvd (obviously) 4/ instead of choosing DVD VIDEO, choose DVD-ROM (UDF) 5/ all settings should be ok at default, but if not, make sure no multisession is ticked, and UDF1.02 is selected as a physical partition. 6/ click new, locate your VIDEO_TS folder with the movie you want to burn.drag and drop into the burn box on the left, then click burn. 7/ when finished enjoy in you stand alone for the first time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I also tried this and NO GO again, the new version of Nero also has an option to Burn in FORCE DVD COMPATIBILITY MODE, I also tried this and NO GO I am using an LG 8X DVD +RW Drive and Verbatim 2.4X 4.7 Gig DVD+R Media. I have tried burning at 2.0 and 2.4 as suggested NO GO either. I have made about 15 coasters now and am ready to go nuts LOL. Any imput from anyone would be GREATLY appreciated. Bigmoss
Bigmoss, Ya been sooo close - First, find out if your DVD players like either plus (+) media or minus (-) media and assuming your burner is a dual format one, burn the disk your players like You needed all your files in a folder named VIDEO_TS (yes, written like that) (Your first 3 steps were right and then, that's where you shot youse self in ze foot (Now THAT had to hurt:-( Follow my "yellow Brick Road, Oh Yes, follow the yellow brick road -" First, create a folder for your work on your desktop - load your files there - make sure they are in a folder named VIDEO_TS written like that (all in Caps) - some programs like Shrink will make the properly named folder for you, others you must make the folder yourself - Nero needs that folder in order to work properly - then follow this Step by Step – Do not use Nero Wizard. When you open Nero Burning ROM, you will be at the “New Compilation” window. Directly under the title “New Compilation” is a choice block to choose either DVD or CD, choose DVD. Directly under that click on the DVD Video Icon. Then click “New” in the upper right corner of that screen, NOT the main screen. You now are in the DVD Video window. In the left screen, click VIDEO_TS. In the File Browser screen, 3rd from the left, trace your path to the VIDEO_TS folder, the one you made in the beginning, holding your work and click on that folder. All of your VIDEO_TS files are now opened in the right screen. Click on the top file, hold down the “Shift” key and then click the bottom file thereby hi-lighting the entire column of files. Click and (holding the left mouse button down) drag the entire column of files to the open screen, second from the left. Now click the icon on the task bar that shows a match on a disc, and then click “OK” and now ? “Burn you sweet thing, Burn Baby, Burn !” ” “Let me hear you say it, Who’s your Daddy Now ???” (Wheeew, now I need a cigarette) Guess what my Friend ?? You are done !!! STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER ! ! Keep all fingers and toes away from Ms. Computer. Never mess with the lady when she’s working – it would be hazardous to your health, you understand - Go and have your coffee, when Nero is done, she will let you know ;-)) Enjoy, “Pete” Welcome to the Club
Hiya Bigmoss, Do you want the good news first, or the bad?? Tell you what, a bit of both can be found at: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers just type SD3109 into the box then search - have a GOOD read. You can muck about with Nero as much as you like, it won't help, as the problem you are having is almost certainly media compatability. Now we get to the BAD NEWS: you say you have an LG 8X DVD +RW Drive, if I think correctly your players will only support MINUS media. And only certain GOOD quality ones at that. Hope this helps...
Hiya Pete, you have got that script of yours in a text file, all ready for copy'n'paste..... As long as you are not offering to get "a leg up" to the newbies, i'll forgive you for beating me to the post Byeeee.....
(Huuuummmmmmmm, me thinks me said dat, He,he) Media recommendations - -> Ritek G04 or Verbatim ) -me again -
Thanks for the replies guys, Pete I tried everything you mentioned above and no go, I had already had the name VIDEO_TS etc and it does not seem to matter. drchips- I guess my question is what is the difference between -R and +R the reason i bought +R DVD's is that is what my sales guy said to use, and also the drive has written on it DVD+Rewritable ? Does that not mean +R. I have also tried these burns in 3 diff units and no go. And as mentioned I am already using the Verbatim media which is what Pete recommended. Any other thoughts ? BM
As i said It also look like your writer only supports PLUS media, so a basic incompatability there.... BTW, Sales people LIE!! Sales people quite often know the words, but not what they mean!! Sales people are rarely technically competent!! Don't you just LOVE sales people?? Byeeee.... _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Life is just more of the same:[/small]
they are your players, the 3109 only supports MINUS media, you will have to check the rest but I suspect the same.... that is your writer, which only supports PLUS media.... Does that explain the incompatability?? Have Fun...
Bigmoss, It's cheaper to buy a $40.00 player rather than another burner - Pete Hey Doc, I apply that "copy'n'paste - file" only where it fits Us "Crips" can do that - BTW - the "Leg up" for the "newbies" - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/72849
Hey ScubaPete, I actually found out my Burner will burn -R and +R it will only burn the - at 4X but that is not big deal, I also found a guy to flash my 3109 and it will play the -R series. I will try that route first and go from there. BM
