Hey gang, new to the board & hoping you can help me. Having problems with my burnt DVD's freezing up when I play them back in my home DVD players. I have 3 different units, all are less than 2 years old. All are capable of playing back DVDR- & DVDR+ media. I'm coping movies using DVD Decrypter & DVD Shrink. My burner is a Pioneer DVR-109. I'm using Maxell DVD- Blanks. When playing my copied movies back, anywhere between 30-60 minutes in, they begin dropping out then totally freezing up. This is becoming rather frustrating. How can I eliminate this problem?
what speed are you burning at? i used to have this problem because i would burn it at 16x which was my highest burn setting. i asked someone on this site how to fix it and they said to always burn on the lowest speed possible to ensure the best property. i tried a burn on 4x and i've never had one freeze on me since. DVR-109 Writes and reads DVD-R/RW, +R/RW and CD-R/RW formats DVD/CD buffer under-run protection [bold]Max. 16x writing speed for DVD-R/+R Max. 6x writing speed for DVD-R Dual Layer and +R Double Layer Discs Max. 6x writing speed for DVD-RW Max. 8x writing speed for +RW[/bold] DVD data capacity of 4.7 GB per single-sided disc and 8.5 GB Dual/Double layer discs you might be burning at 16x which would be the highest
I'm only burning at 4x. After doing some exploring on the formums, I think I may have found the problem. I have been putting memorex labels on my dvd's and others have said that indeed is the problem with disc freezing up. I removed the labels on a few of discs that have been freezing & what do you know, problem solved!
