ive backed up some of my dvds on discs. but now ive tryed to copy them again for the kids but it not have it it just wont copy also ive noticed the copy ive made of my originals plays then stops and starts unless i use some silver top arita dvd+r discs and more or less othewr makes give me problems. is it my writer because it was only 59 quid from pc world ?
Could be your writer/conmputer (being too slow) or your media (being too crappy). If you're "copying on the fly" (which means you're reading the disk you want to copy from a DVD-ROM while simultaneously writing onto blank media with a DVD-writer) then stop it. You should always first rip the disk you want to copy down to your harddrive first, and then copy it from the harddrive onto new blank media. That way, if there are any read errors, you won't have any buffer under-runs or other errors. Also, try burning at a slower speed. With junk media, this can make all the difference.
what programs are you burning with? If you are using dvd+r then you might need to booktype the discs to be more compatible with you dvd players. peace
Sounds like low quality or crap media to me. Perhaps, you might want to consider some of the highly recommended media such as Fuji, Verbatim, TY, Maxell, Sony and TDK. Make sure it says "made in Japan or Singapore."
hi yup sounds like el cheapo discs strike again! good to start with and after a few months yup! they degrade!!! great for not able to copy and stutter/jump/start - stop from middle to end bad! i have been here... i use ritek go5 now
