    Hi there,

    You burner has firmware v1.36

    v1.72 is available for the HP DVD 200i (for internal) --> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...t=81681&lang=en&cc=us&softwareitem=dv-18855-1

    File --> ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software3/COL2251/dv-18855-1/dvd200_172.exe

    Double/triple check this firmware IS for your drive 1st.
    Maybe the 200j is a newer model than the 200i or 200e (external)

    What brand of media are you using ?
    VSO Inspector v1.1 or DVDInfoPro can provide you the Media Code.

    The HP 200i anyway, seems to write at 2.4x MAX.
    Have you tried setting the burn speed at 2x instead of using MAX which is 2.4x

    Here's some more reading about your drive:

    My 2 cents...

    Hi,

    Did you flash your drive ?

    Do you have an other brand of media to try ?

    I ain't no expert, I'm just suggesting things I would try, without knowing the end results !

    Listen to what cougar is telling you. You need to flash your drive, if you have not. Then retry if you are still getting the same error

    It means your drive does not like your media, try another brand.
