I am new to burning dvds. I successfully burned about 5 dvd movies using DVD X COPY EXPRESS. Unfortunately after that, I've haven't been able to burn any more dvd movies. The problem I've been having is when using the above-mentioned software, my computer will read the original dvd movie up until it is 99% read; I then get an error message saying that it can't read certain sectors and that it can't read the dvd. I've tried burning other dvds with the same result, and I've even changed my dvd re-writer. I was using one manufactured by LG and now I am currently using a BENQ dvd re-writer. I would appreciate any advice.

Your program cannot handle the newer protected movies, and there is no udate support for the program. Try downloading these two free programs DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink to backup your movies. Guides and software are available at this site

Or you can download the 21 day free trial versions of AnyDVD and CloneDVD. AnyDVD works in the background to break the encryption and CloneDVD will encode and burn your DVD.

    software available at http://www.slysoft.com

I have the same problem except that it spread to dvd decrypter and dvd shrink also. I cant seem to burn any movies anymore and if i do get lucky the movie skips and gos all the way through. As for dvd x copy express and i copy dvds 2, they both read the movie fine but when it comes to writing they both finalize within a few minutes rendering the discs junk. The only way i can sometimes copy is to use dvd shrink and turn it into an iso file , then use decrypter to burn it .Help!

I've used lots of different brands of blanks. Many expensive brand names and some not so expensive. I've tried burning at 4x speed as this is the lowest my system will permit, but still i have problems. I'm using an I/O Magic dual format 8x drive. Firmware has been updated.I have no problem playing dvds on my computer or the drive recognizing movies, blanks or data. When i first started using "DVD X Copy Express" and "I Copy Dvd's 2", they both worked fine. Then little by little they started having problems once and a while until they finally completely crapped out. Now, i can only use the first half of their programs because when i get to the part where i insert a blank dvd, it always shows an error after a minute or two.I started using "Dvd Shrink" and "Dvd Decrypter" to finish them and they worked great for a while, but like the other programs, they eventually started to crap out also, until now i can't burn anything without getting an error. I tried using "End It All" to close any programs that might be interferring with my burning, but it did no good. It's almost like sabotage. Every time i get a new program it works great for a while until my computer gets used to it and then kills it.
