    @Nenios,

    First thing you need to do is edit out your Nero serial # that starts with something like 1A23-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX before someone steal your serial and use it for Nero for free. To edit your post, click on the little "pencil & paper icon" on the right hand just above your post and now edit your serial before it's too late.

    Your Plextor's firmware is old, update to latest version 1.08, go here and http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1974 see it for yourself.

    Thank you for pointing out a serial number for me.

    I have done as you suggested and updated my firmware. I actualyl had this firmware at one time but I downgraded the firmware to see if an old firmware would work, given that I had the problem with this version of firmware as well.

    as for the media this was a particular dvd that a relative suggested I try. I normally use a brand called [bold]Sonic[/bold] which can be obtained from http://www.shop4tech.com.

    With the Sonic brand I have made about 15 previous copies of dvds, so as not to ruin the originals from use by my friends and family. The Sonics are giving me the same error.

    As for what I was trying to burn with this particular dvd was a test to see if I had gotten it working again by simply writing two .jpg image files to a dvd.

    i've come across that media code (VDSPMSAB) before, but only as the cause of people's burning problems. better media is needed..

    oh and i read countless bad things about shop4tech from the regulars here, they're apparently to be avoided for selling fake media and/or bad service i believe...

    So basically try it with different high quality media and if that doesn't work then I am either shit out of luck or would you advise if it errors to post the new error report within this thread?

    try decent media, make sure that firmware's up to date again, run a 'simulation burn' ie it will go thru the motions with a blank disc but not write to the disc, and it'll produce a section of error log. post it regardless of whether it works or not...
